Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- Abstract: Between 100 and 200 words
- AI and Authorship: Use of AI must be declared, if AI use it detected and not declared the submission will be returned to the author for amendment to ensure the authorship is by the researcher student. For more information see AI and Authorship.
- Assessment: Work is not based on work that has not yet been submitted for assessment, the paper has already been submitted for assessment or has been assessed.
- Ethics: Confirm that my research is in accordance with ethical approval as set out by my institution/affiliation.
- Images: All images embedded in my paper have also been given clear file names and have been attached to this submission as separate files.
- Keywords: Around 6 keywords are included.
- Length: I am submitting an original research paper between 2,000 and 5,000 words long, or I am submitting a critical reflection between 1,000 and 2,000 words long. (For both types of submissions, the word count does not include abstract, references and appendices).
- Original work: The material in my paper is original and has not been published or submitted for review elsewhere. If produced as part of a larger research group or project, I confirm that I have authorisation from the project supervisor to publish on this work.
- Permissions: I have permission to reproduce all images or other copyrighted material within my paper (for assistance/advice contact the journal team)
- Referencing: My referencing adheres to Reinvention’s style guidance. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- Submission file: The work is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Undergraduate work: I am an undergraduate student or my work was carried out when I was an undergraduate and I graduated within the last 6 months
- Settings Style: The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. The text is double-spaced; uses Arial font, size 11 point; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- Glossary: I have included a glossary of subject-specific or technical words with brief, one-line definitions.
- Cover page: The first page must be the cover page, including the authors' names, institutions, submission title and if the paper is to be considered for a particular special issue or section.
- OJS account on submission: Ensure contact data and Affiliation (Institution) are included.
Special Section: Liberal Arts Network
This section is for all papers from authors and institutions who are part of the Liberal Arts Network.
Copyright Notice
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from copyright holders for reproducing through any medium of communication those illustrations, tables, figures or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere. Authors are also responsible for adding these permissions to the acknowledgement footnote that precedes all other notes or crediting the source and copyright of photographs or figures in the accompanying captions.
The journal's policy is to ask authors to grant us the licence to publish their work, which gives us the exclusive right both to reproduce and/or distribute their article (including the abstract) in printed, electronic or any other medium, and in turn to authorise others (including Reproduction Rights Organisations such as the Copyright Licensing Agency and the Copyright Clearance Center) to do the same. In return the author(s) assert their Moral Right to be identified as the author, and we promise that we will respect their rights as the author(s). That is, we will make sure that their name(s) is/are always clearly associated with the article and, while they do allow us to make necessary editorial changes, we will not make any substantial alteration to their article without consulting them.
Copyright remains with the author(s), however, the author(s) authorise us to act on their behalf to defend their copyright if anyone should infringe it, and to retain half of any damages awarded, after deducting our costs. The author(s) also retain the right to use their own article (provided they acknowledge the published original in standard bibliographic citation form) in the following ways, as long as they do not sell it or give it away in ways which would conflict directly with our interests. The author(s) is/are free to use their article for the internal educational or other purposes of their own institution or company; mounted on their own or their institution’s website; posted to free public servers of preprints and/or articles in their subject area; or in whole or in part, as the basis for their own further publications or spoken presentations.

Privacy Statement
The data on this form relates to your submission to Reinvention: an International Journal of Undergraduate Research. The date and time of your submission, your identity and the work you have submitted will all be stored, but will not be used for any purpose other than communicating with you about the journal and your submission. If your submission is accepted and published then your submission will be stored whilst in publication. If your submission is not accepted then we will retain your submission for two years, after which time it will be destroyed. You have the right to withdraw consent of submission at any time, however in doing so we will be unable to work towards publishing or to publish your work. By submitting your work you agree to the terms stated here.
